LOOKING FOR MORE AWESOME APPS? HERE ARE SOME MORE AWESOME ANDROID APP LISTS!

  • Checketry

Checketry is one of the best android download managers

Checketry is a newer download manager for Android. However, instead of working with your on-device downloads, this one works with your PC downloads. You can use it for Steam downloads along with Firefox, Chrome, EA Origin, Battle.net, and even uTorrent and qBitTorrent. You simply download the app on your phone and computer, sync up, and you’re ready to monitor. It also works with a bunch of different file types, including documents, music, images, games, and video content. The app is free with ads so it’s good for those on a budget as well.

  • Gallery Go

Gallery Go is one of the best new android apps from 2019

Gallery Go is a new app from Google. This one is basically like a slimmed down, offline capable version of Google Photos. You can view all of your photos, it works offline, and it works with SD cards. Additionally, there’s an auto-enhance feature for those who don’t like editing their own photos, although it’s only just okay. The big deal is its ability to organize your photos at night by sorting them by people, selfies, nature, animals, and other such things. It’s an above average, minimal gallery with some neat tricks and it’s completely free.

  • Hex Installer

Hex Installer is one of the best new android apps

Hex Installer is a theming app for Samsung devices. It features 60 themeable apps, 16 color options, third party apps support, and live previews to check your progress. Basically, you custom make a Samsung theme. It then slots that theme into Samsung’s theme store so you can install it. It uses a very similar method to Synergy so fans of that know what to do. There is a learning curve with this one so make sure to follow the instructions to perfection to get it to work right.

  • mnml Launcher Early Access

mnml Launcher is one of the best new android apps

mnml Launcher is a new, minimal launcher from the same developer of the Artwalls and AMOLED mnml X wallpaper apps. It’s still very early on in development, but we can see a little bit of potential with this one. It features a very simple launcher UI with basically a front page and an app drawer. The front page populates based on an AI algorithm. It’s still very early days, so we may not recommend you install it as a daily launcher right now. However, keep an eye on it. It could turn out pretty good.

  • Night Vision / ToF Viewer

Night Vision / ToF Viewer is a very unique (and free) camera app. It doesn’t work with your normal camera sensor as most camera apps do. This one works specifically with time of flight censors on certain devices. You can see things like the depth information, confidence information, edge detection, and you can see what it actually looks like to see things through the lens. It’s definitely a niche product more for proof of concept than any real world use. However, we thought it was cool. Please note, it only works on some devices and they have to have a time of flight censor.

  • Philo

Philo - best new android apps

Philo is a relatively newer video streaming service. It’s an on-demand video service similar to Hulu and Netflix. It features a bunch of shows from AMC, BET, Comedy Central, Discovery, HGTV, Food Network, and many others for a flat fee of $20 per month. It has its ups and downs. For starters, it doesn’t support Chromecast at the time of this writing and that’s a fairly serious sin. However, the content and price isn’t half bad. Plus, the app works fairly well on its own for a newer product. We expect improvements over the next few months so keep it on your radar if you’re interested.

  • Post-it

Post-it is a note taking app by the company that makes Post-it notes. We’re not sure why this app didn’t exist ten years ago, but better late than never. The app uses little Post-it note graphics for a less serious, but still fun note taking experience. You can share notes, organize notes, and export to things like Excel, PowerPoint, Dropbox, and PDF. It needs a little bit of work and it focuses a little more on fun rather than functionality, but it should improve with a few updates.

  • Ruff

Ruff - best new android apps

Ruff is another note taking app, but it takes a much different approach than Post-it. It’s basically one big notepad file and you can write whatever you want. It’s a decent choice for creative writers, people who use lists, and other, longer-form notes. The free version gives you one big text page and the premium version adds a stash feature, multiple notes, and some other features. It’s still fairly new, but the design is top notch and it has potential.

  • Squarespace

Squarespace is one of the best new android apps

Squarespace launched a new Android app this last month and it’s actually quite powerful. You can manage your site through the app and that includes things like adding blog posts, uploading photos, and designed the site as a whole. It’s a lot better than using a mobile browser for this stuff. There are some bugs and most of them seem to revolve around photo uploads. However, this is very early on so we expect improvement over time. Squarespace costs whatever it usually costs, but the app itself is free.

  • Steam Link

Steam Link - best new android apps

Steam Link isn’t a new app by any stretch. However, it launched its first stable version earlier this month. The launch came with support for 200 new devices along with a host of bug fixes and performance improvements. For those who don’t know, Steam Link lets you play your Steam games from your PC on your Android device with a controller. Think like Google Stadia, but it’s your computer playing the game.
